in Training Methods & Philosophy

I have a Masters Degree in Psychology specifically studying dog behavior from the University of Texas at Austin.  The program was extremely in-depth, a ton of work, and an amazing learning experience.

But it doesn’t make me “certified”.

There is no real accredited Dog Trainer certification.  Any place can offer a course and give “certification” through their program.  So a trainer just saying they are “certified” does not mean a whole lot.

For what it’s worth, I used to be certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (meaning I passed a multiple choice test) but I let it expire because I didn’t really see the benefit, other than their quarterly magazine.
